Bryce Dallas Howard is perfect for ‘Terminator Salvation’ role

Actor/director Ron Howard'S daughter Bryce Dallas Howard , knows that in Hollywood, movie roles don’t usually just land in your lap.

The 28-year-old actress plays Kate, pregnant wife of hero John Connor.

“I didn’t even know that there was this role. McG,” Howard said of her director, “literally just offered it to me.”

This fourth “Terminator,” the first minus its iconic villain Arnold Schwarzenegger, is for Howard, “A defining franchise.”

James Cameron’s groundbreaking 1984 “Terminator” was, she said, “Really unique. It captured a certain fear that people were going through with technology advancing and seeing what the potential consequences of that would be.”

This fourth outing continues the rivalry of man vs. machine, Howard said, “In a really articulate and compelling way. It’s incredible to be a part of something that’s almost cinematically historical.”

This thriller went through its own struggle when it opted for a PG-13 rating instead an R, which the previous “Terminator” films had.

Howard finds herself competing with her dad - his “Angels & Demons” opened last weekend.

“We’re going to both give each other a run for our money. It’s kind of great because it’s a win-win either way,” she said.
